Motivational Interviewing

A Motivational Interviewing (MI) approach assumes that change is part of the therapeutic process, but that taking the steps toward change can be challenging.

MI is an empathetic and client-driven approach that gives the client the power to understand how to embrace the change process. It is a collaborative process between the psychologist and the client to help strengthen the client’s motivation to change their behavior. It assumes the client has all the necessary resources to take on challenges associated with moving forward and taking steps towards the changes they would like to see.
